Capsule Geology

The TR-67 showing of the Cole property area is underlain by a sequence of volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Lower Jurassic Telkwa Formation of the Hazelton Group. A plug of granodiorite of the Late Cretaceous Kasalka Plutonic Suite occurs to the immediate east.

Ankeritic-carbonate-quartz shear zones were noted in a series of gullies near the headwaters of the east fork of "the western creek". These zones are up to 10 metres wide and contain up to 2 per cent pyrite. They are irregular in width, pinching out along strike (east-west). One zone (TR-67) contained the highest silver anomaly noted on the property with 42.8 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 13070). The area is marked on the prospecting map as green volcanics and lapilli tuffs.

See Cinderella, for details of the exploration in 1983 that led to the discovery of the TR-67.

See also Main Creek (Coles) (093E 110) for related geological and work history details that occurred in the area after the 1983 work on the Cinderella.
